Sometimes a situation becomes potentially violent regardless of how skillful a practitioner is in nonverbal and verbal de-escalation techniques. This class explores what the next steps are and when to call for help. We take a close look at setting limits without them sounding like threats, how the call to 911 should sound and some tips on how to work with emergency services. One element that is sometimes forgotten is how to rebuild the relationship after the crisis. The class concludes with some notes on self-care post crisis and the importance of a debriefing protocol.
