I used an exercise from a book called Thinking through Drawing. It starts with drawing swirly squiggly lines intersecting with each other, then filling in faces, hands, and other imagery inside the lines. I felt like I was channelling these images!

Inspiration was diverse, but I learned the grass-making technique in polymer clay from Jana Roberts Benson and the crackle technique from Debbie Crothers. Also, I wanted to use three different types of polymer clay, which I had never used before.

I did this watercolor painting in an Artability workshop. The teacher taught us how to paint this picture that she had painted herself.

It was Mother’s Day when I painted this picture in an Artability watercolor workshops. The teaching artist had us use watercolors that day, and we painted a picture she had come up with herself. I loved doing this simple fun painting!

I love listening to the crickets in summer as I fall asleep. One summer, I didn’t hear them! I thought maybe climate change had caused them to go extinct. A friend explained to me that crickets come out late in summer. Sure enough, later that summer, I heard them again.
