Jill Wiedemann-West joined People Incorporated as its first Chief Operating Officer in 2010. She was promoted to CEO in 2014. Ms. Wiedemann-West’s professional background and experience is in healthcare operations, management and service development. She holds a Master of Arts in Psychology and Human Behavior from National University in San Diego, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Jim Olson served as People Incorporated’s Director of Finance from 2011-2013, and returned as Chief Financial Officer in 2014. As CFO, he is responsible for oversight of all the organization’s financials. He also oversees the facilities and human resources departments. Mr. Olson’s background includes over 19 years of experience as a financial executive in healthcare-related industries. Prior to People Incorporated, Olson held Management roles at Park Nicollet Health Services, Fairview Health Services, and HealthPartners. Mr. Olson holds an undergraduate degree and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of St. Thomas.
Gary Norman joined People Incorporated in 2018. He has more than fifteen years of senior leadership experience in behavioral health and chemical dependency services. His past leadership roles include Carver County Heath and Human Services, University of Minnesota Physicians, Thrive Behavioral Network, Cedar Riverside Peoples Center, Headway Emotional Health Services, and the Community University Health Care Center.
Mr. Norman has managed outpatient mental health services, 24/7 crisis services, IRTS programs, School-linked programs, ARMHS, targeted case management, an outpatient community based medical clinic, and jail re-entry programs. Additionally, he is adjunct faculty in the social work department at Augsburg College and an experienced presenter on mental health and leadership topics. He has his a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women’s Studies from Hamline University and his Master of Social Work is from the University of Houston, College of Social Work. He is an LICSW and a certified clinical supervisor.
Katie O’Brien has been with People Incorporated since 2001, and has previously served as director of Community Support, Case Management, Residential, and Crisis Services. Ms. O’Brien holds a degree in Communications and Psychology and is a Registered Nurse.
Karen Kaplan serves as the Vice President of Human Resources for People Incorporated. In 2003, Karen decided to shift her career trajectory from the for-profit sector, and instead align her values with a mission driven organization.
Ms. Kaplan found her place with People Incorporated in December of 2017 and prior to that had served other nonprofits in various HR roles. She is known for her strong commitment to integrity, social justice and servant leadership. These values align with those of People Incorporated and she especially appreciates the organization’s commitment to dignity, respect, team-oriented environment and support of continuous learning.
Ms. Kaplan builds her team and department policies informed by these values. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in business management from Beth University, and is in the home stretch to complete her master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from Touro College, which models her commitment to continuous learning and development. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family, volunteering to develop future business leaders, and container gardening
Mike Turpin joined People Incorporated in 2015 as General Counsel. His background includes over ten years of legal experience in the health care and government fields, including serving as General Counsel for MNsure where he served on the senior management team and managed all legal and compliance functions for the agency. He also served as Deputy General Counsel for the Minnesota Department of Human Services where he provided advice and assistance to the department on a wide variety of legal topics. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Turpin was a public school teacher working with children with learning differences. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College and his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas, School of Law.
