Drug overdoses are increasing as part of a disturbing trend during the pandemic, yet a key service is available that’s breaking down barriers to treatment and saving lives. The St. Paul Police Department’s Community Outreach and Stabilization Unit (COAST) talks to KARE11 about how their Recovery Access Program is provided life-saving support.
“We respond to overdose follow-ups, so after an overdose occurred, we offer resources to the family members and the people who experienced overdoses,” says Melissa Reich, a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. Reich is a member of COAST’s Recovery Access Program through our partnership with the St. Paul Police Department.
