A Peek Inside: Montreal Courts Supportive Housing

September 24, 2020

For many individuals living with mental illness, independent living is an important goal that can be difficult to reach. When physical limitations are added in, living without supports can seem impossible.

Montreal Courts Supportive Housing offers unique opportunities for individuals to live independently in their own apartment units integrated into the community, while receiving on-site, 24/7 services from mental health professionals and nursing staff to support them in their independence. People Incorporated leases office and clubhouse space on-site, and People Incorporated residents regularly meet with staff to support their individual growth and recovery plans. Residents work with staff to manage medications, treat chronic health conditions, improve their independent living skills, manage their finances, and whatever they might need.

“It is good to have a nurse keep track of everything that happens medical in a year. Staff support 24 hours a day is great, I really appreciate that. Staff support me when my depression is at its worst,” shared Lorrene. “Staff support meets my quality of life needs, and Angel’s (emotional support animal) too! Staff are my sunshines, I love all of the staff. Angel does too, she runs up to the door when staff arrive!”

Each apartment is fully furnished by People Incorporated and is made move-in ready. Each resident receives new bedding, a kitchen kit, and other items to make their new space feel like home.
