The Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness (ICPH) interviewed our CEO Jill Wiedemann-West for its Play, Art, Caring: Creating Emotionally Healthy Homeless Families article. The article was featured in ICPH’s Summer 2017, Vol. 8.1 publication. Wiedemann-West discussed the importance of developing trauma-informed care systems that recognize the dynamic nature of the issues that may lead to homelessness, including mental illness, family problems and/or chemical addictions. She emphasized that these individuals often face additional co-occurring, complex barriers to wellness, such as unaddressed physical health, dental and housing issues.
