People Incorporated Twin Cities Crisis Services is designed to provide ongoing crisis intervention and stabilization services in a consumer’s home environment with the goal of allowing the consumer to remain in the community while receiving these services. The program is housed in the Diane Ahrens Crisis Residence.
Who we serve
Twin Cities Crisis accepts direct referrals for the potential client or from family/friend of the individual as well as from all hospitals, mental health providers/case managers and other crisis entities in Anoka, Dakota, Ramsey and Washington Counties, The following criteria are used in determining whether an individual is appropriate to receive services. The person must:
- be 18 years of age or older
- be a resident of Anoka, Dakota, Ramsey or Washington County
- have a diagnosis of mental illness or personality disorder
- be able to care for him- or herself and self-supervise any special needs he or she might have
- not currently be a danger to him- or herself or others
- fall within the normal range of intelligence (above 70/80 IQ)
Services we provide
Crisis Services are provided in the individual’s home or other appropriate community setting. Services provided are designed to assist the consumer in managing their current crisis situation, which would not require a more restricted environment such as a hospital or crisis residence. Services can also be of a supportive nature, helping the consumer to manage issues or situations in their daily life, with the goal of preventing or minimizing a mental health or chemical dependency crisis. Crisis aides have access to clinical supervision at all times through cell phone contact with the area director and clinical supervisor. Services may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Clinical assessment and treatment planning
- Brief counseling and support services
- Supervision of taking psychiatric medications
- Assistance in making the home safe and manageable
- Psychoeducation
- Emergency problem solving and continued support

About the process
- Determine if the individual is eligible for services. Our staff can help verify this when the referral is made.
- Obtain appropriate releases if possible so we can serve the client.
- Fax a copy of any assessments, releases, and current treatment plans to 651-288-4971, addressed to the attention of Twin Cities Crisis Services Dispatch
- Notify Dispatch at 651-324-7953 (Dakota, Ramsey or Washington Counties) or 763-755-3801 (Anoka County). Dispatch is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If a staff person is not available, leave a message and someone will be in contact within 10 minutes.
- If calling to schedule an upcoming appointment, please notify Dispatch.
About our fees
Fees for Ramsey County clients are covered by a contract with Ramsey County and through Medical Assistance and health plans. Clients of Dakota and Washington Counties must have Medical Assistance, a health plan or agreement between the County and Twin Cities Crisis Services to provide services.
Hours of operation
The program is available seven days a week, 24 hours per day.
