Your gift to People Incorporated support our mission of promoting and securing independence for people with mental illness and other brain disorders. Giving a gift is one way you can have a positive impact on our community—and it means so much to the people we help.
There are many different ways to give:
Cash Gifts – Gifts may be made by cash, check, or credit card.
Planned Giving – Leaving a gift in your will can be a way to reduce or avoid estate inheritance taxes while helping to ensure that our work will go on into the future.
Matching Gifts – Your company may match your gift. Contact your human resources department and fill out your company’s matching gift form.
Gifts-in-Kind – Donations of office supplies, and gently used furniture and appliances are also welcome to help reduce our operational costs or meet a specific need.
Gifts of Securities – A gift of appreciated securities means that you can take an income tax charitable deduction and avoid capital gains tax.
Designated Gifts – Opportunities for special designated gifts are always available.
Minnesota Tax Relief - If you make charitable contributions throughout the year and use the short tax form, you may benefit from the Charitable Giving Tax Relief portion of Minnesota's 1999 Tax Bill. This bill makes it possible for those who give over $500 in money/goods to nonprofits to claim a tax deduction of 50% of the amount by which their total contributions exceed $500. The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits has published an excellent brief information card that explains how this works. If you would like a copy of this information, contact Barbara Nichols, Vice President, Resource Development, via e-mail or at 651-288-3504 .
