The People Incorporated Artability program involves a summer-long series of art and writing workshops, culminating in a three-day show in October as a means of celebrating the creativity of people with mental illness and the contributions they make to society.
In 2008, more than 500 people attended the art show, which featured the paintings, sculptures, and other creations of over 100 artists—some 380 works of art and writing. Artists may sell their work at the show and receive 90% of the profits, with the remaining 10% going back to support the Artability program.
The program was supported in 2008 through grants from [the Alex Galle Artability Endowment, the Boss Foundation, the Patrick and Alice Rogers Foundation, the Eli Lilly Foundation and Company, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, Ramsey County Department of Human Services, and Unity Church – Unitarian.
Artability receives support from the community through donations and volunteer time. To help this program survive and grow, please consider volunteering or making a gift today.
