About Mental Illness

Did you know?

  • Mental illness is the leading cause of disability in the United States.
  • Mental illness accounts for 15% of the total costs of disease in the United States—more than all cancers.
  • One in four Americans suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year—or about 57.7 million Americans.*

“Mental Illness” is a term that encompasses a vast range of different conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Since these conditions can affect individuals in very different ways, People Incorporated provides a spectrum of interrelated services that aims to give each individual the best combination of effective, evidence-based care and support so that he or she can live as independently as possible within the community. You can read more about our approach in How We Work.
