The Tim Burkett Award for Community Leadership in Mental Health was established in 2014 to honor those individuals who have shown leadership in reducing the stigma surrounding mental illnesses, and improving the way we support those living with these illnesses in our community. This leadership may take the form of a public awareness campaign; a commitment to dealing with mental illness in the workplace; a public policy initiative aimed at expanding community-based mental health care access; or something else that illustrates leadership in these areas. The selection committee meets each spring to review potential awardees, and nominations from the public are encouraged. The award is presented each fall.
