More than 500 people attended People Incorporated’s 43rd Annual Luncheon on June 14 at the Crowne Plaza St. Paul – Riverfront Hotel. Our keynote speaker, veteran broadcaster Jane Pauley, spoke about her experiences of bipolar disorder, based on her best-selling memoir Skywriting: A Life out of the Blue. People Incorporated client Arianne Maxwell also delivered a moving account of living with depression and how People Incorporated has helped her create a new future for herself. Rena Sarigianopoulos, anchor and reporter at KARE11 TV, was master of ceremonies.
Awards were given to several individuals who made a particular contribution to furthering People Incorporated’s mission this past year: State Senator David Hann and State Representative Jim Abeler were cited for “successfully championing legislation to maintain sufficient funding for our Epilepsy and Mental Health Services;” Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman for “her leadership in launching the Huss Center for Recovery and helping to ensure full utilization of Nancy Page Crisis Residence;” and Lucinda Jenson, Department of Human Services Commissioner, for “her progressive vision which integrates physical health and mental health treatment, as well as mental health and chemical dependency treatment.”
Thanks to all who attended and made the event such a success!
Jane Pauley’s appearance was made possible through a generous grant from Dr. Trisha Stark.
